MULTIPLE CD RELEASE No 40302-1 Intel NT FEB 2000
Since the February 2000 CDs, have gone to press we have found an error with the
default installation of PDMS Professional 11.2.BP.4 BONUS PACK release No 50804-1.
When Installing Release No 50804-1 PDMS Professional 11.2BP.4 BONUS PACK
over PDMS Professional 11.2.4 (release No 50797-1) into the default PDMS11.2 directory,
files in the Bonus Pack do NOT overwrite the files of the same name installed
in PDMS11.2 directory and there is no indication that this has happened.
The only files that are installed are the files that are not present in 11.2.4,
thus giving the misleading impression that the installation has been successful.
For explanantion of problem and a workaround read the following link link errata07032000.pdf
This file will be included in the Customer shipment of the CD-R.

Support Managers' Bulletin - Limbospec problem in 11.2
Warning: Limbospec overwrites after 8191 members in PDMS 11.2
Fix on February 2000 CDs as SPECON 11.2.4a
We have received PURs from two German customers which
report a problem with LIMBOSPEC in SPECON.
The problem became rather confused because the Q MEM
command only outputs a maximum of 500 members.
So this bulletin reminds you of this feature and
warns you of the problem with LIMBOSPEC -
and when this problem will be fixed.
Warning:
PDMS returns maximum 500 members with the command QUERY MEMBERS
(this is deliberate to prevent the output of )
(a very long list with very large members lists)
(this is not a fault, but it can be confusing )
(if the user is not aware of it)
Information:
To query the number of members:
QUERY MEMBERS COUNT
Fault in 11.2, up to and including 11.2.4:
1. How LIMBOSPEC is supposed to work:
The command REMOVE /specname removes the spec from the
current owner and copies it into /*LIMBOSPEC_1.
When /*LIMBOSPEC_1 is full, the process starts
again with /*LIMBOSPEC_2 (and so on)
The maximum number of members in a LIMBOSPEC is 8191
2. The fault:
When /*LIMBOSPEC_1 is full it does NOT create /*LIMBOSPEC_2
Instead, it deletes the contents of /*LIMBOSPEC_1 and start to
fill /*LIMBOSPEC_1 again from the first member
It also seems to lose the 8192nd member
3. The solution:
(a) Users must be careful not to exceed 8191 members
in /*LIMBOSPEC_1 (Check with Q MEM COUNT)
(b) We will fix the problem in SPECON 11.2.4a.
This will be released (on all platforms) on
the February 2000 CDs, at the same time as PDMS 11.2.4.
That is, PDMS 11.2.4 will include SPECON 11.2.4a
The February CDs will be shipped during February
to reach customers by the end of February.

When running the upgrade script (pdmsupg.perl) you may get the error message - Unable to locate the Dynamic link library PerlCRT.dll.
This is due to the perlCRT.dll file being missing from the pdms11.2 release.
To overcome this problem download the dynamic link library by right mouse clicking and
saving this link/target onto your local disk perlCRT.dll. Then move the file into the
following directory :-
C:\cadcentre\pdms11.2upgrade10.5\perl\bin\MSWin32-x86
Note : Your product may not be installed on your hardware's C: drive.
Please also note that you may never see the above error message, if you have perl already
installed on your local machine, or somewhere on your company's network within your search
path.

When trying to read the PDMS manuals from the NOV (UNIX only ) CD-ROM's (without
installing the product) it appears that the manuals :-
ref - swcu1198/man1/doc1/ Cadcentre Software Customisation Guide and
ref - swcu1198/man2/doc2 Cadcentre Software Customisation Reference Manual
are missing...
Yes they are missing on the CD-ROM outside of the uninstalled product, but if you install
the product from the CD-ROM onto your hardware, they are there. It was a problem with the
CD-ROM builds which has now been fixed, for any subsequent releases.
11th August 1998 The 3 AUGUST 1998 CD-ROMs have gone to Press and the 2

WARNING WARNING
The intel NT MAY 1998 CD (no 40085-1) contains an upgrade which should enable PDMS 10.5.4
to run with ExCEED 6 (Release No 50510-1), see available releases for
Intel NT.
THIS RELEASE DOES NOT WORK WITHOUT
DOING THE FOLLOWING.
After installing exceed6 and the upgrade release, and PDMS10.5.4, the following DLL's must
be copied from the PDMS10.5.4 (Release No 50440-1) directory
and copied into the exceed6 directory, overwriting the files of the same
name. These 2 files are :-
hclglx.dll and xlib.dll
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL PDMS
10.5.4 USERS on HARDWARE NT.
Download the warn1809.txt file which contains the following
message.
Subject: PDMS 10.5.4 on hardware NT
PLEASE NOTE : ...
THIS AMENDMENT TO THE FILE ONLY HAS TO BE DONE IF THE
PDMS USER DOES NOT HAVE AN ADVANCED ROUTER LICENCE.
A problem has been found in the latest PDMS NT release
which has just been sent out to all current NT customers.
The AUG NT CD release No. is 40073,
The Products release No. is 50390 (PDMS 10.5.4).
During the loading of the macros in PDMS DESIGN,
it checks to see if a PIPEROUTER license exists or not.
During the macro checking process it fails at that point.
The user will receive an error "no such feature exists"
and be returned to the operating system,
i.e. stopping them entering DESIGN.
The workaround for this is to locate and edit the file
...\pdms10.5\DES\ADMIN\macload.
Locate the word ROUTER and comment out the lines as shown below :-
...
$* Check to see if Router DSO is available
$* ROUTER
$* handle any
var !!CDROUTEREXISTS false
$* elsehandle none
$* exit
$* var !!CDROUTEREXISTS true
$* endhandle
...
NOTE: leave the var !!CDROUTEREXISTS false line uncommented.
