About VIEWPoint Americas
This PDMS user group was officially organized in 1989, under the name of NAPUG (North American PDMS Users Group). The organization’s name was changed to PUGA (PDMS Users Group of the Americas) at the 1992 annual conference to reflect the growing user base in both North and South America. In 2002, the name changed to VIEWPoint Americas and the scope expanded to the full VANTAGE suite.
The purpose of the user group is to benefit the members by providing a forum where information can be exchanged freely, and where AVEVA can present their development, maintenance and support plans, and the users can influence these plans.
The user group is governed by an Executive Committee of seven members, with offices of Chair, Vice-Chair and Treasurer. The Executive Committee meets about three times per year, mainly to plan the various meetings, and exchange product and development information.
The user group is a true user group, organized and run by the members with AVEVA participating and supporting. AVEVA maintains the mailing list of all active license holders and assists with communications for the group. All licensed users are eligible and encouraged to become active in user group activities.
There are two primary annual events. The annual conference is usually in May/June and there is a Technical Conference held in the fall or Spring.
The focus of the Technical Group changes as product developments occur with VANTAGE.
Each year at the annual conference, the Technical Group presents its prioritized development items for voting by the user body. AVEVA works closely with the user group to see that these priorities are weighed and given full consideration in future product development.

2004
On March 19th, 2004 a special
interest group meeting will
be held at 1:00pm at the AVEVA
office, 10370 Richmond Ave, Suite 400, Houston, Texas. This meeting will
last no longer than 4 hours. The purpose of this meeting is to:
Kick-off the VPE SIG (special interest group) in Houston with this first meeting
Gather together common users of VPE software product to discuss various topics about the software
Share knowledge about the product
Brainstorm ways to improve the software
This VPE SIG meeting will be a broad topic meeting to discuss individual discipline business, (i.e., intelligent P&ID's, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, management of project data). The Viewpoint Americas Technical Committee is conducting this meeting and our host, AVEVA is allowing us to conduct this meeting at their Houston office. Viewpoint Americas is a nationwide group that works with the Vantage user community as well as AVEVA. There will be more information shared about Viewpoint Americas at this meeting.
There is no fee to attend this meeting. Please review the agenda and plan to attend this VPE SIG meeting.
